Hazard Mitigation Plan & Comprehensive Community Plan Reports
The Town Council recently received important updates to two key planning documents: the Hazard Mitigation Plan and the Comprehensive Community Plan. These updates help guide the Council’s next steps and inform action on initiatives that are ready to move forward.
One of the five collective goals of this Council is to address items outlined in the Hazard Mitigation Plan. Councilor Madnick and I have been tasked with leading that effort, and we’re excited to help turn this plan into action.
The Beaver River Valley Community Association recently posted a blog regarding a public meeting on flood protection: https://www.brvca.org/all-news/engineers-provide-update-on-flood-protection-program
Richmond’s 250th Commission
In just one year, we’ll be celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding! As chair and Council liaison of Richmond’s local commission, I’m thrilled about what’s ahead.
We’re planning a full lineup of events, including historical talks, book discussions, reenactments, and a community field day. Follow our new Facebook page for regular updates, or visit the Town website to stay informed!
Hopkinton Community Center
Renovations are underway at the Hopkinton Community Center at Crandall Field, with completion expected by October or November!
Thanks to a unique partnership, Richmond residents will enjoy equal access to programs at the new center for the first five years. This collaboration came about after Richmond was unable to pursue a grant opportunity in August 2022. In October 2023, our Town Council voted to allocate Richmond’s share of the funding to support Hopkinton’s project.
Now, both towns want your input! Hopkinton has launched a short survey to find out what types of programs and activities you’d like to see at the new center.

4 Richmond Townhouse Road
You might be wondering what’s happening with the property near Town Hall. Currently, we are waiting for the environmental study to be completed.
Councilor Palmisciano and I have been ensuring this project moves forward efficiently. Working with town staff and the environmental consulting firm, we developed a concept plan that has now been approved by the Council. It’s important to remember that this is only Phase 1 of the project. I share the disappointment and was hopeful for more. There will be more opportunities in the future to continue developing this valuable town asset.
