Parks and Recreation

Although winter is coming, there is still plenty to do in Richmond!

Learn365

Funds from the Learn365 program are starting to be put to good use! In a 3-2 vote, the Town is partnering with the YMCA for the use of their community room. The room will be used for after school learning programs for our youth and for activities during vacation weeks.

When school is in session we can use the room for adult programs. This Wednesday from 12-1 there is a Pace-RI Lunch and Learn.

Partnership with Hopkinton

The State was offering cities and towns financial support for shovel ready “learning centers” or community centers.  Richmond was not ready to build a community center in town when the prior council was presented with this opportunity. Instead, we recently decided to partner with our neighbors in Hopkinton. Council approved this unanimously. If we did not take the funds for Hopkinton, Richmond’s Portion would have been redistributed around the state with. Richmond residents will have access to the community center at Crandall Field once completed.

Beaver River Park

The playground at Beaver River Park is completed! The new equipment looks great.  Also, the Conservation Commission applied for a to help remove invasive plants on the walking paths behind the playground. Council approved this application unanimously.
